The proposal drew criticism from both The Left, a member of the ruling coalition, and the opposition PiS party.
The project will strengthen national security and regional infrastructure, said deputy PM Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Poland is already NATO’s biggest relative spender, devoting 4.12% of GDP to defence in 2024, which is set to rise to 4.7% this year.
The defence ministry will notify prosecutors of 41 suspected crimes relating to the functioning of the commission.
