“I trust that good will and honesty form the foundation of the US negotiation strategy,” says Duda.
“America has entered the game very strongly when it comes to ending the war in Ukraine,” says Duda.
He also warned that failing to ensure a fair peace for Ukraine would undermine US credibility and embolden China in its ambitions to take Taiwan.
“Ukraine, Europe and the US must be fully united and engage in peace talks,” says Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“We must take care of our relations with the US, but we must also have a sense of our own dignity and strength.”
Other Polish media outlets and NGOs – including those dealing with issues relating to migration and LGBT+ rights – have also seen US funds frozen.
“There may be no cause for concern, but Poland will be well prepared for any situation,” said Tusk.
Poland is already NATO’s biggest relative spender, devoting 4.12% of GDP to defence in 2024, which is set to rise to 4.7% this year.
