Notes from Poland is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is passionate about helping the world to understand Poland and wants to gain experience as part of a small, hard-working editorial team at a nonprofit media outlet.

Candidates should be able to begin a paid internship in September or October 2023 that will last for 6-12 months, during which time they should be available to work for 20 hours a week on average.

Work will take place remotely, meaning that candidates can be based anywhere, but they will be employed under Polish labour law with a gross salary of 2,250 zloty per month. Hours can be flexible and fitted around other work or study commitments.

The intern will be given a range of tasks, including writing, (copy)editing, administration, communication and website/social media management. The precise balance of tasks will be decided in discussion with the successful candidate and based on their skills and development path.

Candidates must be able to write and communicate fluently in English. Preference will be given to those with a high level of Polish, but candidates with lower levels of fluency will also be considered. Some knowledge of Poland and Polish affairs is essential.

Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), particularly WordPress, and any other IT skills are an advantage. Experience working in the media may be an advantage but is not a necessity. We will assess candidates above all on their potential rather than their specific experience.
