Warsaw police have called on the public to help them catch a 93-year-old man who falsely obtained compensation for being imprisoned in a concentration camp where, in fact, he had never been and who scammed single women. He has been on the run for 24 years.
The pensioner in question, Eugeniusz Gadomski, “extorted a significant amount of compensation” for his claimed period in a concentration camp, say the police, who note that there is a European Arrest Warrant out for him as well as domestic ones.
“He has deceived many single women, one of whom he injured severely,” said police sub-inspector Elwira Kozłowska from the Bielany district of Warsaw, quoted by the Super Express daily.
Police have been trying to detain him since 1998, but he has remained elusive, hanging his appearance a number of times, with hairstyles ranging from a ponytail to a crewcut. Gadomski is described as “slim”, with “large, well-groomed hand”, “usually wearing a suit”, and around 170-175 cm (5’7″-5’9″) tall.
