Kaczyński also defended Orbán’s ties with Russia, saying that he “has no choice” because of Hungary’s dependence on Russian energy.
The meeting was strongly criticised by Poland’s own government.
Péter Magyar’s announcement came shortly after he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“In view of the meeting between Orbán and the criminal Putin, it is obvious that the president has cancelled this visit,” said Nawrocki’s spokesman.
Poland and Hungary have regularly clashed over their difficult positions towards Russia and Ukraine.
But he emphasised that Poland “must support Ukraine” because “Russia is the biggest threat to the entire region”.
Figures from Poland’s ruling coalition responded by pointing to Orbán’s warm relations with Putin.
