The aircraft have been named after Poland’s famous “Winged Hussar” heavy cavalry units.
The Polish armed forces contain 216,100 personnel, and are the alliance’s largest in Europe.
Opposition MPs, however, claim to have confirmed that the cuts were proposed by the defence ministry.

The move is part of a wider NATO decision to suspend operation of the treaty in response to Russia’s decision to withdraw from it last year.
